A Preschool Asthma Attack in Photos and Videos

A Preschool Asthma Attack in Photos and Videos

We're still processing Eva's recent asthma attack, her hospitalization, and all of the new information we've received about her health. It's incredibly overwhelming, which is strange because her food allergies were also incredibly overwhelming and by now I would have thought we'd be pros at taking things in stride. Apparently, not so much. I need to sit and write out all of the internal stuff and what all of this means for our family, but I don't even know where to begin with that. That will take more time. Instead, I'm going to share a video from the attack and...

A Veterinarian Themed Birthday for our Ten Year Old

A Veterinarian Themed Birthday for our Ten Year Old

Eva's chosen career path of the moment is to be a veterinarian and we're going into year two of this particular obsession. She requested a vet-themed birthday but all I could think of was sick animals (ew), medical tools (ew), and reality TV shows featuring operations and abscesses (ew ew ew).  The good news is that we were able to pull off a fun animal-themed after school surprise and have some snacks and presents without any gross medical paraphernalia.  If you've been following our family for a while, you'll know that we do an after-school tea time so I got...

When There was a Pandemic and I was OK

When There was a Pandemic and I was OK

What is this life?  What day is it? Is 2020 over yet?  Hey, remember how I sat down (just two months and one day ago) and I wrote about being scared because my husband lost his job but also feeling really supported and uplifted and positive because of the people in my life? He got a job within days of me writing that post actually. In fact, he got more than...

When My Husband Lost His Job and I was OK

When My Husband Lost His Job and I was OK

Kyle lost his job about two weeks ago.  He wasn't fired, which seems to be the first thing that you're supposed to follow up with because it's the first thing everyone asked. Kyle was not fired. His position was eliminated as part of a downsizing and there are spreadsheets somewhere in the world that make it reasonable that he went to work one morning and came home with his car packed full of framed photos and good pens.  I don't know. So much of that story isn't my story at all because it happened to him and I feel like...

Conferences and Speaking and Finding My People

Conferences and Speaking and Finding My People

These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind. I have a lot to talk about but for today I'm just going to say that it is such a joy and privilege to be at this age and know who my people are and where to find them. I'm doing two conferences back to back. I just finished RootsTech which is a massive genealogy conference that takes place in Salt Lake City. Now I'm down in Palm Springs, California, at Alt Summit, a creative entrepreneur and influencer conference that I've been going to for ten years. These two conferences are wildly...
